Flack, junto con Yusef Laatef, Willy DeVille, Les McCann y Eddie Harris, entre otros, fueron algunos de los artistas que trabajaron con este amante de los ritmos jazzeros y de los descubrimientos.
Lo que no sabía Joel (o a lo mejor sí lo sabía) era que tenía un hijo talentoso que de tanto mamar estas melodías acabaría por incorporarlas a sus temas. Mocean Worker, nombre artístico del vástago, mezcla inteligentemente lo mejor de los ritmos electrónicos con melodías de músicos como el bajista Marcus Miller o trompetistas como Steven Bernstein. Lleva cinco discos de evolución hasta haber encontrado su lugar y su estilo. Cinco de MoWo es su quinto álbum, y en él se pueden escuchar influencias del jazz, funk, swing, incluso de sonidos latinos.
